Asheville, N.C. — As part of its continued commitment to supporting its workforce and addressing nationwide healthcare staffing challenges, Mission Hospital is investing more than $10 million in additional pay increases for a majority of its full-time, part-time and PRN colleagues.

This investment is separate from and above the standard annual merit increases provided each year to eligible employees and is designed to recognize the important role colleagues play in delivering high-quality care to the community.

“These increases reflect HCA Healthcare’s ongoing commitment to investing in our people and ensuring Mission Hospital remains a place where colleagues feel valued and supported,” said Greg Lowe, President, Mission Health. “Across the country, healthcare organizations are facing workforce challenges, and we are actively taking steps to recruit and retain the talented caregivers our community depends on.”

The pay increases benefit a broad range of roles that support patient care, including clinical and non-clinical positions, and went into effect May 17.

These investments build on Mission Health’s broader efforts to strengthen its workforce pipeline and support colleagues at every stage of their careers. Those efforts include:

  • Partnering with and supporting local nursing programs across Western North Carolina
  • Supporting the Galen College of Nursing Asheville campus to expand access to nursing education
  • Offering paid-to-learn programs for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and Medical Assistants (MA), allowing individuals to earn while they train
  • Maintaining a robust Graduate Medical Education (GME) program in partnership with MAHEC to train the next generation of physicians
  • Providing competitive benefits packages, tuition reimbursement, referral bonuses and hiring campaigns with sign-on and relocation incentives, as noted in our recent 90 hires in 90 days campaign.

Mission Health is grateful for the dedication of its colleagues and the care they provide every day to patients and families across the region.
