General surgery

Though some conditions require the care of a specialized surgeon, many can be addressed by a general surgeon. Rather than limiting their expertise to one specific area, our general surgeons have extensive knowledge of the whole body, performing procedures related to numerous areas, such as the:

  • Abdominal organs
  • Arms and legs
  • Blood vessels and heart
  • Breasts
  • Colon and rectum
  • Digestive system
  • Head and neck

  • Bile duct cancer surgery
  • Bile duct exploration
  • Cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal)

  • Whipple procedure

Minimally invasive robotic surgery

One of the aspects of surgical care that we most pride ourselves on is our dedication to minimally invasive surgical techniques. In particular, we use leading-edge robot-assisted surgery whenever possible. Robotic surgical arms are able to achieve results not possible with the human hand, allowing our surgeons greater precision and visibility for hard-to-reach areas. Additionally, by using minimally invasive techniques, we make a series of small incisions, as opposed to one large, open incision, affording you minimal scarring, a faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay.

We use minimally invasive robotic techniques across all of our various surgical specialties and have 11 in-house surgical robots. This collection of robots includes ones used exclusively for stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). During these noninvasive radiation treatments, precise doses of radiation are delivered to tumor sites with greater-than-normal accuracy, acting as a surgical alternative for oncologic conditions of the prostate, lung, brain, spine, head and neck, liver, pancreas and kidney.
