Cardiovascular disease treatment

There is no one-size-fits-all solution for cardiac complications. We prioritize communication and personalized treatments to help you sustain a healthy heart.

Heart attack care

A few seconds can make all the difference when it comes to heart attacks. Our cardiologists and emergency personnel have helped our hospitals achieve some of the lowest door-to-treatment times in the country. If you or a loved one is experiencing a combination of extreme fatigue, progressive chest pain, nausea and vomiting, neck and upper back pain or shortness of breath, call 911 immediately.

Heart failure care

Though heart failure can't be cured, it can be treated. Heart failure happens when your heart can't pump blood as well as it should, limiting the amount of oxygen your body needs to properly operate. Fatigue, shortness of breath and swelling in the feet, ankles, legs and abdomen are some of the signs that you may be experiencing heart failure.

After determining a diagnosis, we work to ease symptoms, stop the disease's progress and help you manage risk factors. Your treatment plan may also include ventricular assist devices, ace inhibitors, beta-blockers, surgical procedures and cardiac resynchronization therapy.

Heart and vascular surgery

We prioritize nonsurgical treatments whenever possible. However, in some cases, surgery is the most effective solution. In those instances, our skilled surgeons perform leading-edge procedures, such as valve replacements and repair, as well as cardiovascular oncologic procedures, bypass surgery, device implantation and arrhythmia surgery. Our comprehensive heart and vascular surgery programs also offer minimally invasive surgical options, which allow for shorter hospital stays and faster recovery times.

Interventional cardiology

Interventional cardiology is a specialty that uses small tubes called catheters to diagnose and treat heart conditions. Unlike a traditional surgical procedure, interventional cardiology is a minimally invasive process that eases stress on you and your heart. Heart valve replacement or repair, stent placements, angioplasty, angiogram and intravascular ultrasound are some of the tests and procedures we perform using interventional cardiology.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)

ECMO machines support your breathing and are used during complex heart treatments when medications or ventilators are ineffective. For better breathing, fresh oxygen flows into your body from tubes connected to the ECMO machine. The oxygen tubes can be placed in an artery and a vein or just a vein, depending on your condition.

Pediatric heart care

When your child is experiencing heart troubles, focusing on anything else seems impossible. The doctors in our pediatric heart program are experts in treating infants, children and adolescents. Offering both outpatient and inpatient care, our cardiac specialists focus on preventing common causes that can result in cardiovascular disease, heart attack and stroke.

Rehabilitative care

If you have undergone advanced cardiac surgery or experienced heart failure or a heart attack, our nationally accredited rehabilitation program may be right for you. So that you can feel supported throughout the recovery process, we involve your family members whenever we can.

Since the road to cardiac recovery looks different for everyone, we recommend asking yourself several questions before seeking care. These include:

  • Are you overweight?
  • Do you exercise regularly?
  • Do you have diabetes?
  • Do you smoke cigarettes?
  • How often do you eat high-fat and fried foods?
  • Is there a history of heart disease in your family?
