Nonsurgical treatments for back and neck pain

When you come to us for orthopedic spine care, we are your advocates, every step of the way. That means we put an emphasis on holistic approaches to ensure you get the least invasive treatments first. Above all, our objective is to correct spinal abnormalities, relieve your pain and stop complications in their tracks. We do this through treatments such as:

  • Botulinum toxin (commonly known as the brand name "Botox") injections
  • Braces and splints
  • Interventional pain management, including injections, nerve blocks and ablation procedures
  • Non-opioid pain medication
  • Physical therapy and rehabilitation
  • Spinal orthotics
  • Spinal nerve stimulators
  • Sports medicine techniques
  • Trigger point injections

Minimally invasive spine surgery

If nonsurgical treatments prove ineffective, you will be cared for by board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeons. These committed professionals are a trusted resource in the region, and work tirelessly to get you moving the way you want and need.

The most common type of procedure directly targeting the spine is spinal fusion surgery, which we are able to accomplish with minimally invasive techniques. This surgery is most often needed if bones in your vertebrae — which protect your spinal cord — are rubbing against each other, stretching adjoining muscles, nerves and ligaments. The spinal fusion procedure permanently joins two or more of the bones in your spine, pushing away the muscles of your back to relieve pain. Being able to accomplish this via minimally invasive means is particularly beneficial to you, because using smaller incisions means minimal scarring, a faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay.

Spinal fusion preoperative classes

If you are scheduled for spinal fusion surgery and have additional questions, we can help. We offer free, accompanying education classes taught by nurse navigators who will help you understand what to expect before, during and after your procedure. They also provide guidance on how to prepare your home for optimal recovery.
