Our cardiac rehabilitation program

Our comprehensive rehabilitation program seeks to rejuvenate you following a cardiovascular surgery or event.

Components of cardiac rehabilitation

If you have experienced a heart issue or surgery, cardiac rehabilitation can be a major factor in increasing your length of life. Operating out of an outpatient facility near the hospital, our medically supervised, 12-week rehabilitation program works to transform your life through an individualized plan that addresses factors unique to you. Led by nutritionists and cardiovascular specialists, the 12 weeks are typically divided into 36 sessions over three months, with three sessions per week. Our primary objective is to have you quickly return to daily activities, while lowering risks for future events.

Given the intensity and length of the program, we understand that it can be intimidating, so we make sure you are properly supported and don't go through it alone. We involve your family and primary care medical team, who receive monthly progress updates and a discharge and long-term recovery plan. This plan will include goals for the future and structured regimens to keep you on track.

Benefits of heart therapy

Cardiac rehabilitation can be a challenging road. But with full commitment, you can receive numerous benefits. These include:

  • Controlled weight
  • Decreased blood pressure
  • Diminished medication dependency
  • Improved diet
  • Increased energy and exercise capacity
  • Lower cholesterol
  • Positive lifestyle education
  • Reduced blood sugar

Longer term heart rehabilitation

If you have graduated from our flagship 12-week program, but need additional long-term care, we have devised a supplemental program called Well Steps to aid in your continued recovery. With a physician's approval, Well Steps provides supervision and monitoring by our dedicated nursing staff at all times, as they work to devise an even more specialized plan for life outside the hospital. Together, we work to help avoid future triggers for redeveloping old habits that contribute to heart attack, heart disease, atrial fibrillation (A-Fib) and high blood pressure.

At the core of Well Steps is exercise. We understand that when overcoming certain cardiovascular conditions, exercise can be particularly difficult. But Well Steps provides a safe, unintimidating space to train. The nursing staff will not only help you exercise, but will keep your heart under constant monitoring to ensure you are safe.

Well Steps requires a referral from your doctor, so call or visit our rehabilitation center for information and availability. The address of the center is:
