Burn care focuses on the treatment and minimization of injuries caused by heat, chemicals, friction, electricity or radiation. Care can also include specialized reconstructive services.

At Angel Medical Center, we understand the physical and mental toll that burns and burn-related conditions can take on you. We have solutions, and if you require more specialized care, we can refer you to Mission Burn and Wound Center, located at Mission Hospital.

We offer assessment and treatment for many types of burns, including:

  • First-degree burns
  • Second-degree burns
  • Third-degree burns
  • Radiation wounds

Burn care services we provide

Burns need specialized treatment and monitoring to ensure your skin and tissue repair properly. Our burn specialists know this, and care deeply about helping you heal.

Burn treatments we offer

Some burn care services we may use for your condition include:

  • Advanced topical dressings
  • Ankle-brachial index (ABI) testing
  • Biological dressings
  • Compression wraps
  • Debridement
  • Offloading support (not bearing weight on burned extremities)
  • Skin grafts
  • Skin substitutes
  • Unna boots (specialized wound dressing)

Features of the Mission Burn and Wound Center

The burn center at Mission Hospital includes ample space for healing. They offer 14 exam rooms, hydrotherapy care, and both physical and occupational therapy. They also provide two highly specialized types of burn care:

  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) — HBOT increases your skin's oxygen intake to promote more swift, complete healing of burned tissue and damaged skin.
  • Regenerative therapy — Also known as growth factor (GF) therapy, this treatment involves the topical application of substances that promote new cell growth while healing damaged ones.
