Orthopedic care

Services our orthopedic doctors provide

At our core, we want to get you moving again. We use advanced diagnostic testing to form the foundation of a personalized treatment plan that keeps in mind your personal routine.

Diagnosing orthopedic conditions

Orthopedic injuries and conditions can appear in a variety of ways. We want to serve you as effectively as possible, so we have several diagnostic procedures to help understand your condition's root cause. These tests include:

  • Bone density scans
  • Computerized tomography (CT) scans
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Ultrasound
  • X-ray

More spacious MRI machine

MRI tests use no radiation, instead using magnets and radio waves to view your body's internal structures. The tests are painless, but are performed with you on your back inside a large tube. We understand that this can potentially be claustrophobic, so we have what is called a wide-bore MRI machine. These machines have a wider opening and allow for more headroom and overall space around you. You may even be able to have your head outside the machine, so any anxieties about being in an enclosed space can be eased.

Orthopedic treatments

While some orthopedic and joint issues can be resolved with lifestyle changes, others require more complex treatment. We offer both approaches, including minimally invasive surgical procedures. Minimally invasive surgery affords you minimal scarring, a faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay, and we are proud to be able to offer these services.

While minimally invasive surgery is always preferred, we do have to apply traditional surgical methods when certain needs arise. One of the most common joint surgeries is a joint replacement. Depending on the severity of your condition, you may need a total replacement, versus partial replacement. With both types of procedures, the affected joint is removed and replaced with a prosthetic, relieving pain and restoring movement. Our orthopedic team has a particular focus on hip and knee replacements.

Regardless of your condition, our orthopedic surgeons are prepared to use leading-edge technology and techniques to reverse, reconstruct or replace whatever is impacting you, getting you back to the life you love.

Foot and ankle care

Healthy feet and ankles form the foundation for our ability to walk, run, hike and climb. If you have foot or ankle pain that is accompanied by swelling or redness, it could mean that you need to be seen by a physician.

When you come to us for foot and ankle care, we begin with a thorough evaluation. This is followed by individualized treatments, which may include injections, physical therapy, medications, bracing and minimally invasive surgeries, such as ankle fusion and ankle arthroplasty (replacement).

Hand and upper extremity care

Pain and lack of mobility in your hands or upper extremities can affect nearly every aspect of daily life. If you have harmed this part of your body, or are experiencing a chronic condition, our surgeons and support staff will work to rehabilitate your functionality, returning you to the level of activity that you enjoy.

Hip care

Our hips support a lot throughout our lifetimes. In addition to wear and tear from aging, hips are also susceptible to fractures from slips or falls. We are sensitive to this and make sure to not only treat and rehabilitate your affected area, but educate you on how to reduce your risk for future injuries.

Hip replacements are common. In some cases, surgeons will use what is called the anterior approach, which involves a three-to-four-inch incision on the front of the hip, working around the muscle instead of cutting through it.

Knee care

Your knees have a great risk of potential damage, particularly if you have an active lifestyle, including playing sports, heavy exercise or other active hobbies. Knee injuries can arise in numerous ways, including torn ligaments, arthritis or traumatic injury. Like other joints, you may only injure part of your knee, so partial knee replacements are just as common as total replacements. Knee prosthetics can be made of metal, plastic, ceramic or a combination of these materials.

Sports medicine

The value of regular physical activity cannot be understated. We know that athletes and those with overly physical lifestyles hope to stay that way, so our sports medicine program focuses on prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries sustained during sports and other physical activities. It is our hope to quickly and safely get you back on the field, court, trail or wherever you get the activity that you love. Our physical therapists work to understand the root cause of your condition so they can design an individualized rehabilitation plan that focuses on recovering strength and mobility.
