Features of our inpatient rehabilitation facility

We have proudly become recognized across the Southeast as a trusted choice for physical medicine and rehabilitation services.

Admission criteria for our rehabilitation center

Our 80-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation facility acts as a regional referral center where we can personalize resources to treat your unique needs. If an illness or injury limits your strength, mobility and cognitive ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), such as walking, eating, speaking or self-care, you may benefit from admission to our program.

Rehabilitation is not for everyone, so we make sure to thoroughly assess your condition to determine whether you are a good fit. In order to be admitted in our medical rehabilitation center, you must:

  • Be 13 years of age or older
  • Be able to tolerate at least three hours of rehabilitation activities five days per week
  • Expect to be discharged in a timely manner once rehabilitation goals have been met
  • Need more intensive services than those provided by a skilled nursing facility
  • Require care that includes 24-hour nursing and physician availability
  • Show potential for significant improvement
  • Willingly learn new information, or have a caregiver available for training

To find out more information about our admission criteria, please call (828) 274-6151.

VAD rehab program

Our comprehensive and holistic VAD program focuses on functional independence, education and device management. During the program, you and your caregiver, along with rehabilitation team members, work closely with the VAD team at Mission Hospital to ensure ongoing communication regarding your recovery and progress.

Our staff has received extensive training in tending to the needs of those with VADs, and work to maintain positive outcomes for the program. The average stay at our facility for the VAD program is about 11 days, and we have found that an overwhelming majority are able to return to a home environment with ease.
